A collaborative piece with Scott Eckert for the Furniture Collective exhibit entitled ‘Light’.

Conceived as both an ambient light and furniture piece, Shade is comprised of two pieces: a wall mounted work surface/display shelf concealed behind a shell form or ‘shade’. Constructed of MDF, aluminum, cold rolled steel and mahogany veneer, Shade is lit with a single incandescent bulb with the shell-like element functioning as a screen when opened and a shade when closed. Allowing light to filter through the sculptural arc created between the two curved forms, the entire piece appears to hover in mid-air, surrounded by an ethereal glow.
